Want to Become an On Ice Volunteer?

On-Ice volunteers'  are hockey players that are 17 years or younger that partner with BVHC coaches to assist with Try Hockey for Free and our Learn to Play series.  They help set up and tear down on-ice equipment before and after classes, run drills, and help move players from one station to another. May assist other coaches in age-based teams.   

Basic Steps:  All requirements below must be completed before participating in any BVHC event:

  1. Register as a member of USA Hockey as a Player/Coach. CLICK HERE          
  2.  Complete your Brazos Valley Hockey Coaching Application, current USA Hockey number required. Registration Link Provided Above.
  3. Please fill out the USA Hockey Student Application Student Coaches (usahockey.com)

    1.  Submit to Hockeydirector@brazosvalleyhockey.org or give to any Board Representative

Note:  All on-ice volunteers are required to wear a Ice Hockey Certified HECC helmet with current certification sticker while on the ice for any BVHC event.

Want to Become a Coach?

Coaches are certified through USA Hockey and can support various programs from Learn to Play up to our 14U programs. They also serve as head or assistant coaches for BVHC house league.

Basic Steps:  Prior to the start of team practices or serve as a coach on the bench during games, you must accomplish the steps below.   

1. Register as a member of USA Hockey as a Player/Coach. CLICK HERE

2. Complete your Brazos Valley Hockey Club Application, current USA Hockey Number required. Registration Link Provided Above.

3. Complete a national level background screening.  CLICK HERE

4. Complete USA Hockey Safe Sport Training.  CLICK HERE 

5. Complete age-specific module(s) for the age group(s) you are coaching.  CLICK HERE

6. Complete the required Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic.  (Must be done by December 31st).  CLICK HERE

Must Attend BVHC coaching clinics (date and time will be provided once coaches are selected)

NEW for 2023-2024 Season- up to 12 approved coaches will have their coaching fee reimbursed if receipts and proof of completion done by December 31 of applicable year. Email receipts to Treasurer@brazosvalleyhockey.org, reimbursement to be issued in January.
